What does os mean with an android tablet?

Here is a very interesting question asked on Yahoo Answer. “What does os mean with an android tablet?” Here is my answer.

OS is an abbreviation for Operating System. It is basically an interface between hardware (tablet) and human (us).

I am sure we are all familiar with Windows. It is an OS built by Microsoft to help us interact with our computers.

In the simplest term, you can think of Android as Windows for tablet. Of course, Windows do have its own tablet OS called Windows 8 and Windows RT. While Android is supported by Google. I am sure that is another topic all together.

Just like Windows, there are a lot of different OS version.

Windows have Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows XP, Windows 7 and the latest is Windows 8.

Android also have different OS version. There is Android 2.3 Gingerbread, 3.0 Honeycomb, 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, 4.1 Jelly Bean and also 4.2 Jelly Bean.

With each new version of OS, there are new features and improvements made to the OS. It is better to buy the hardware with the latest OS version.

Just like we will buy Windows 8 for our computer, when choosing an Android Tablet, it is preferable to buy Android tablet with the latest OS, 4.2 Jelly Bean.

I am sure that answers your question.
