Asus New Fonepad is Intel based Android Tablet

Rumors are circulating on the internet regarding Asus latest development. An Intel processor based Android Tablet ME371MG. Most tablets today are powered by ARM processor, designed with power saving performance in mind.

Based on information obtained from sources within the upstream supply chain, Digitimes (and other sites around the web) is reporting the Fonepad will come equipped with an Intel Atom Z242 processor clocked at 1.2GHz, 1GB or RAM, 8-32GB of internal storage, 3MP rear-facing camera, 1.2MP front-facing camera, Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth, GPS, and 3G support.

Intel’s Z2420 chip is designed for entry-level smartphones, so it’s not exactly a top tier processor. But it’s a 1.2 GHz x86 chip with support for hyperthreading and 1080p HD video playback and encoding.

No price is known for now, however it is expected to be announced in the upcoming MWC 2013 with a release date in the second quarter of 2013.
